What are the requirements to open an account?

At Íkualo, we want to make our financial services easier for you to access, no matter where you're from.

To join our community, you only need to meet a few simple criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • A valid passport from any country in the world or a valid identity document from a country in the European Community.
  • Reside within Spain.

To verify your address, you can use any of the following documents:

Service bill: A recent electricity, water, or telephone bill showing your name as the cardholder and the address you wish to register.

Rental agreement: A valid rental agreement proving your residence at the specified address.

Certificate of registration: An official document that proves your place of residence within Spain

Do I have to go to a branch to open my account?

We want to inform you that at Íkualo, we've designed a 100% online process, keeping your convenience and safety in mind. This means you don't need to travel or leave your home to start enjoying our services. Everything you need to become part of the Íkualo family is at your fingertips, wherever you are.

How long does it take to open the account?

We want your experience to be as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Opening an account with our app is extremely simple and intuitive; it shouldn't take you more than 7 minutes to upload all your information.

Once we have all your information, we hope to approve your account as soon as possible, but in some cases it may take up to 48 business hours.

What IBAN do Íkualo accounts have?

All our accounts benefit from a Belgian (BE) IBAN, allowing you to conduct transactions within a framework of security and trust.

How can I get all my account details?

With our app, you have the power to know every important detail about your account at your fingertips. Conveniently and securely, you can check your current balance, account holder, IBAN, BIC code, and associated address, all from one place.

Additionally, to make things even easier for you, we offer the option to download a PDF receipt that includes all this information. This way, you'll have all the necessary information at hand, whether for your personal records or any other paperwork you need to complete.

Who protects my money?

Íkualo accounts and cards are issued by Paynovate under a Visa license. Paynovate is authorized by the National Bank of Belgium under the Electronic Money and Electronic Money Institutions (EMI) Act (ref. 0506763929) to issue electronic money and provide related payment services.

Your money is protected by a safeguard mechanism, meaning that 100% of your funds are kept separate from Paynovate's own funds and held in a bank account. This account is clearly identified as being for our clients.

In the unlikely event of Paynovate becoming insolvent, your funds are segregated from Paynovate's funds. Therefore, Paynovate's creditors (other third parties to whom Paynovate owes money) will not be able to make any claims or affect your funds.

What is the BIC and where can I find it?

The BIC (Bank Identifier Code) is a code that identifies a specific entity when sending or receiving a transfer. This code consists of 8 to 11 alphanumeric characters.

Our BIC is PAYVBEB2, and you can easily find it in your account details within our app. If you need to find another entity's BIC, you can click on it to access a tool that will help you obtain the BIC using the IBAN.

Íkualo Visa Debit Cards

Can I have a debit card with this account?

You can request up to 5 virtual debit cards and 1 physical card. All our cards are VISA, which guarantees acceptance at a wide network of establishments.

How long will it take for the physical card to arrive?

It may take up to 25 business days to reach the address on the account.

Does it cost anything to get a debit card?

The virtual card is completely FREE. For those who prefer something tangible, issuing our physical card is FREE.

How can I see the expiration date of my physical card?

You'll be able to see the expiration date once you receive the card. You can view the rest of the information using your app.

How can I manage the PIN for my physical card?

To reset your PIN, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the "Cards" section.
  2. Select your physical card.
  3. Choose the "Reset your PIN" option.
  4. Confirm the request.
  5. Enter and confirm your new PIN.
  6. Confirm again.

Remember that your card PIN must be four digits long and cannot begin with a zero (0). You should also avoid continuous sequences (such as 1234) and repeated numbers (such as 1111).

Once you've completed the process, go to an ATM, log in with your new PIN, and it should update without any issues.

How can I use my virtual debit card?

This tool allows you to make payments at a wide variety of online stores, giving you the convenience of shopping from anywhere, anytime.

Thanks to the technology and security backed by VISA, every transaction you make is secure, protecting your financial and personal data at all times. We're working to offer you the option to use it with Apple Pay and GPay.

How can I block my card?

If you need to block your card, you can do so easily through our app, ensuring your peace of mind and security.

Can I use my card with Google Wallet or Apple Pay?

We understand how important it is for you to have flexible and modern payment options.

At this time, our cards are not compatible with Google Pay or Apple Pay. However, we are working to offer this option in the near future and will let you know as soon as it becomes available.

Can I deposit money into my Íkualo account through BBVA?

Yes. You can deposit money into your Íkualo account using any BBVA ATM that allows cash deposits. Just follow the instructions below (Link).

What are the limits for depositing cash from a BBVA ATM?

To ensure security and comply with current regulations, the following limits have been established for cash deposits made through BBVA ATMs:

  • Maximum €1,000 per day
  • Maximum €1,500 accumulated in one month
  • Maximum €3,500 accumulated in the last 3 months

How long does it take for a deposit made from a BBVA ATM to be reflected?

Cash deposits made from a BBVA ATM are usually reflected in your Íkualo account in a few minutes, although in some exceptional cases it may take up to 24 business hours.

Does it cost anything to deposit money into my Íkualo account from a BBVA ATM?

No. Cash deposits made at BBVA ATMs into your Íkualo account are free of charge.

Cost, limits, and locations for cash withdrawals and deposits? Where can I download the app?

We offer convenient cash withdrawal options at ATMs in the VISA network.

Using VISA ATMs in Spain costs €1.50 per transaction.

Within the SEPA* + UK zone, the fee is €1 + 1% of the withdrawal amount per transaction.

Outside the SEPA Zone* + UK there is a cost of €1.75 + 2% on the withdrawal amount per transaction.

I went to deposit money into my account at Western Union and they told me I couldn't.

Once at the entry point, you must indicate that you are sending money. Sending method direct to bank and then you must provide your IBAN, which starts with BE.

I want to transfer from another entity, but I get an error with the IBAN for Íkualo.

Your Íkualo account can receive transfers from any institution within the European Union without any problems.

To make a transfer to your account from another bank, you may need to make an international transfer. If you're asked for the country, select Belgium and enter your IBAN. This way, you shouldn't have any problems completing the transaction. This procedure will not incur any additional costs for you or the person making the transfer.

How long will it take to receive a transfer from another entity?

The time it takes to receive a transfer from another entity may vary depending on the type of transfer.

SEPA transfers Ordinary incoming transfers take a maximum of 2 business days. Please note that if a transfer is made just before a weekend or holiday, the processing time will obviously be extended to a maximum of 3 business days.



Immediate SEPA transfers Incoming transfers to Íkualo accounts are immediate, as long as they are sent from a bank that supports immediate transfers. However, transfers may be delayed if they need to be verified due to SEPA banking regulations.

What happens if you've taken everything we've explained above into account and the transfer still hasn't arrived? In that case, Only the issuing bank can initiate an internal investigation.

Currently, with your Íkualo account, you can make immediate transfers both within Spain and within the European Union.

Is it possible to direct deposit payments or receive my payroll into an Íkualo account?

We are delighted to confirm that our IBAN is fully accepted throughout the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). This means you can easily send or receive payments in euros, set up direct debits for your recurring payments, and, of course, receive your paycheck directly into your account.

If you ever find that a company or your employer within the SEPA region is hesitant to accept your Íkualo IBAN, it's important to know that this constitutes IBAN discrimination.

This situation is not only inconvenient, but also violates Article 9 of the SEPA Regulation, which protects your right to use your IBAN throughout the region without discrimination.

Can I send money to countries outside the European Union?
